On August 18, Son La Provincial People's Committee worked with Viettel Son La and related units on the plan to cover concave areas and digital transformation in the area.
The whole province currently has nearly 247 wave hollow areas that need priority treatment, including 73 villages, hamlets and 174 residential clusters. Viettel Son La has surveyed and proposed to deploy nearly 300 4G BTS stations.
By August 17, the unit had leased nearly 260 locations, completed the construction of 120 stations, installed equipment at 70 stations and broadcasted 40 stations. The expansion of telecommunications infrastructure aims to increase internet connectivity, serve people and promote digital transformation at the grassroots level.
Currently, some locations are still facing problems with land, forest land, fiber optic cables and power sources. Viettel Son La proposed that the province support removing obstacles for 11 stations related to forest land, and at the same time create conditions for electricity connection.
The province requests departments and branches to coordinate in resolving procedures, removing difficulties, and creating conditions for telecommunications infrastructure to be deployed on schedule. Viettel Son La is requested to strive to complete the elimination of subscriber density areas by October 30, prioritizing difficult villages and hamlets.
Along with expanding infrastructure, the province proposes to promote technology transfer, support people to apply e-commerce, trace origins and build product brands, contributing to bringing digital transformation closer to rural areas and difficult areas.
