Mr. Lo Minh Hung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Son La province, and the provincial working delegation have just inspected the field and worked with Muoi Noi commune on flood recovery work.

From the night of August 4 to August 7, prolonged heavy rain in Muoi Noi commune affected 3 villages Bon, Phang and Lay, causing 210 households with 1,105 people to be relocated. Natural disasters caused 35ha of rice, 4.5ha of coffee and 3ha of aquaculture ponds to be eroded, flooded, and buried.

National Highway 6 and many commune roads were landslides of tens of thousands of cubic meters of soil and rock, causing traffic disruption; some clean water works were damaged. Initial estimated total damage is about 7.28 billion VND.

Inspecting cracks and landslides at Lay village and the planned area for population relocation in the disaster-affected area at Pom Hua Lon, Mr. Lo Minh Hung requested the commune and specialized agencies to coordinate with the consulting unit to urgently survey geology and map the high landslide risk area. Thereby determining the number of households that need to be urgently relocated, proposing to build urgent works to rearrange the population of Lay village.

As soon as heavy rain occurred and the risk of landslides appeared, Muoi Noi commune activated an emergency response mechanism, mobilized forces to implement the "4 on-site" motto, prioritizing ensuring the safety of people's lives.

Muoi Noi commune proposed that the province survey and assess geology in Lay, Phang, Bon villages; consider arranging and arranging residents in Pom Hua Lon, initially prioritizing 27 households with 135 people in particularly dangerous areas. At the same time, support funding, materials, vehicles and human resources to overcome damaged traffic, irrigation, and domestic water supply works.

Mr. Lo Minh Hung acknowledged and praised the proactive spirit of the commune Party Committee and government, especially the timely evacuation of people, not allowing casualties to occur. Chairman of Son La Provincial People's Council requested to continue reviewing areas at risk of landslides and flash floods, maintain local forces, proactively plan to relocate people; and at the same time direct geological surveys, identify dangerous areas and develop projects to relocate households to safe places.
