The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Son La province has just coordinated with the People's Committee of Sop Cop commune, Nam Lanh Border Guard Station to organize forest protection patrols on the border line in Nam Lanh commune, from National border marker No. 162 to National border marker No. 165, according to Son La Provincial e-Portal.
The activity takes place from June 29 to July 1, 2026 to strengthen forest management and protection and proactively prevent forest fires in the dry season.
The working delegation was headed by Mr. Tran Dung Tien, Deputy Director of Son La Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment. Participating in the delegation were Mr. Nguyen Huy Tuan, Head of Son La Provincial Forest Protection Department; Mr. Duong Dinh Nghi, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman of Sop Cop Commune People's Committee; representatives of the Economic Department, Commune Police, Commune Military Command and related units.
The working delegation also includes leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hua Phan province, leaders of the Forest Protection Department of Hua Phan province (Laos).
During the patrol, the delegation directly inspected the current situation in key forest areas, assessed the management and protection of forests, and reviewed locations at high risk of forest fires or forest resource encroachment.
Forces closely monitor the area, inspect along the border to promptly grasp the situation, and at the same time strengthen coordination in forest management and protection.
The working delegation also propagated and mobilized people to comply with the provisions of law on forestry; not to exploit and transport illegal forest products; not to encroach on forest land; not to use fire carelessly in the forest and along the forest, especially during prolonged hot weather.
In parallel with that, forces review key forest areas to proactively develop forest fire prevention and fighting plans when situations arise.
The patrol contributes to strengthening coordination between forest rangers, border guards, police, military and local authorities, improving the efficiency of management and protection of forest resources, maintaining security and order in border areas, protecting the ecological environment and creating a foundation for sustainable socio-economic development in Sop Cop commune.
