The Department of Education and Training of Ky Son district (Nghe An province) recently organized a seminar on "Enhancing Vietnamese for ethnic minority children based on mother tongue in the 2024-2025 school year" at Huu Kiem Kindergarten.
Within the framework of the Workshop, representatives of Huu Kiem Kindergarten shared their experiences in enhancing Vietnamese language for children in ethnic minority areas through the experience of playing the board game - a sport imbued with the cultural identity of the Thai ethnic group.
Next, the delegates and the Board of Directors of 21 kindergartens in the district attended the first class of her and her 5-year-old students at Huu Kiem Kindergarten with the content of learning about traditional brocade dresses of Thai women.
Through experiential activities, students not only learn to speak and exchange language skills but also understand more about the culture of the Thai ethnic group - one of the ethnic minorities in Huu Kiem commune.

Previously, at the end of February 2025, the Department of Education and Training of Dam Ha district (Quang Ninh province) also organized a thematic conference "Enhancing Vietnamese for preschool children in ethnic minority areas based on mother tongue" for the 2024 - 2025 school year.
Notably, the thematic conference contributes to fostering practical skills in organizing activities to enhance Vietnamese language, improving the ability to use Vietnamese for children.
At the same time, improve the quality of implementing the Preschool Education Program, meeting the requirements of fundamental and comprehensive innovation in preschool education.
Thereby, creating conditions for preschool teachers to demonstrate their capacity, study, exchange experiences and practical skills in the content of enhancing Vietnamese, innovating forms and methods of organization.
Not only organizing seminars, it is expected that in the 2025-2026 school year, Thai Nguyen province will allocate more than 2 billion VND to support teaching and learning Vietnamese for ethnic minority children before entering grade 1, from the province's budget.
This support policy contributes to ensuring fairness in access to education, while creating more opportunities for ethnic minority children in extremely disadvantaged areas to go to school.
According to the Department of Education and Training of Thai Nguyen province, in the 2024-2025 school year, Thai Nguyen has 227 primary schools with more than 9,000 ethnic minority children out of a total of more than 22,000 first-grade students. Of which, over 2,600 ethnic minority children participate in learning Vietnamese before entering grade 1.
The implementation time is mainly during the summer, the subjects are ethnic minority children who have completed the 5-year kindergarten program and have been enrolled in primary schools, have the need to voluntarily participate, and are limited in their ability to use Vietnamese, parents agree.
