Huong Phung Border Guard Station (Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard) has just coordinated with local Party committees and authorities to start the project "Meaningful Water Well - Deep Border Affection" at residential clusters in Huong Phung commune, on April 17, according to VNA.
Huong Phung is a highland, border commune, established on the basis of merging three communes Huong Phung, Huong Son and Huong Linh. The commune has a border line of 18.24km long, an area of 445.59km2, a population of 11,882 people with 24 villages and hamlets; including the Van Kieu, Pa Ko, Kinh ethnic groups and some other ethnic groups. Population is distributed along the Ho Chi Minh road, western branch and ring roads. The hilly terrain, divided by many rivers and streams, makes access to clean water, especially in the dry season, difficult.
According to the plan, from now until April 30, the unit will coordinate to build 5 drilled wells in residential clusters in But Viet, Xa Ry, Co Nhoi and Ra Ly - Rao villages. These are areas that are often lacking domestic water, directly affecting people's lives and production.

The project has a total budget of 150 million VND, supported by the "For Children's Smiles" group (Hai Phong City) and philanthropists. Socialized resources contribute to solving the urgent need for clean water, while spreading the spirit of mutual affection and love within the framework of the program "I love my Fatherland".
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Bang, Political Commissar, deputy commander of Huong Phung border guard station, said: "The project will contribute to solving the essential domestic water needs for people. In But Viet, Xa Ry, Co Nhoi, Ra Ly - Rao villages, the situation of clean water shortage still occurs, especially in the dry season.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Bang, after completion, the drilled wells will help people have a stable and hygienic water source, improve living conditions, personal hygiene and animal husbandry, thereby limiting diseases related to water sources.
Not only meeting people's needs, the project also creates conditions for household economic development. A stable water source helps people expand agricultural production, animal husbandry, cultivation, contributing to hunger eradication, poverty reduction and towards sustainable development in border areas.
The project implementation also contributes to consolidating the "people's heart posture", strengthening the people's trust in the Party, State and armed forces. Through this, the Border Guard force continues to affirm its role in caring for people's lives and building a solid all-people border posture.
The project "Meaningful Water Well - Deep Border Affection" is proof of the spirit of military-civilian solidarity, with the joint efforts of border guards, organizations, individuals and philanthropists, contributing to tightening the bond of affection at the Fatherland's border.
