The program "0-dong Newborn Bedding - Sharing Love" implemented by Tu Mo Rong Medical Center (Quang Ngai province) in the past 5 months has been effective, providing practical support for pregnant women from poor and near-poor households, helping them feel more secure when coming to medical facilities to give birth.
The model originates from the reality in Tu Mo Rong commune, where the Xo Dang ethnic minority people account for about 96% of the population. Difficult economic conditions make it difficult for many pregnant women in remote and isolated areas to access medical services as well as prepare enough necessary items when giving birth.
The birth of the "0-dong Newborn Wardrobe" not only contributes to reducing costs but also encourages pregnant women to give birth at medical facilities, gradually improving access to health care services.
Responding to the call of Tu Mo Rong Medical Center, many organizations, individuals, and philanthropists joined hands to contribute clothes, blankets, milk bottles, diapers... to serve the program. Items are received, sorted and handed directly to pregnant women. Not only women in Tu Mo Rong commune, pregnant women in neighboring communes such as Mang Ri, Dak Sao, Dak To Kan, Dak Long also benefited from these practical gifts.
According to incomplete statistics, to date, about 60 pregnant women giving birth in the Department of Surgery - Surgery - Anesthesia and Resuscitation - Reproductive Health Care and Obstetrics have been supported. This result is the basis for the center to continue researching and replicating the model in the coming time, associated with the message "Giving love, welcoming life".
From the perspective of a beneficiary, Ms. Y My (20 years old), from Gie Trieng, residing in Dak Tu village, Dak Long commune, said "the family does not have enough conditions to buy essential items for mother and baby. Thanks to the dedicated care from the doctors and nurses of Tu Mo Rong Medical Center, I have more conditions to take better care of my beloved child in the early days of birth, receiving complete joy and happiness.
Assessing the effectiveness of the program, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tu Mo Rong commune Vo Trung Manh said that the "0-dong Newborn Wardrobe" has spread the spirit of sharing, arousing community responsibility in the medical staff. At the same time, this is also a practical way for the highland health sector to link the "Skillful Mass Mobilization" movement with professional tasks and social security policies in the locality.
According to Mr. Vo Trung Manh, besides this model, the locality also implements programs such as "Seedling the Future - Sustainable Crop Development" and "Free Meals for Poor Students". These activities contribute to improving people's lives, enhancing the spirit of people, and creating a foundation for sustainable development in the locality.
