Banh trang dipped in water and dipped in lemon salt is a snack that "stormed" at the beginning of 2026. The dish received many compliments for being new, the taste is just right, suitable for snacking.
According to the trend, each dry rice paper leaf is dipped in water to soften and become sticky. The rice paper has a slightly salty taste, dipped in lemon salt, shrimp paste, satay or buttery sauce. Many people also try dipping it in other spices or processing rice paper into vegetarian chicken thighs, banh cuon, tokkboki...

Ms. Elena Nishtyak (64 years old, Russian), currently living in Nha Trang, watched short videos on the TikTok platform and immediately wanted to experience them.
She said: "Finding rice paper in Vietnam is not difficult at all, only I don't know what kind of dipping sauce to use. So, I improvised and made my own version. I really like this dish! The taste is very strange and completely different from what I have tried before".
For her, this is a very interesting culinary experience. During her time living and traveling in Vietnam, the female tourist had the opportunity to experience many Vietnamese dishes made from rice paper such as rice paper rolls with meat dipped in fish sauce, and fried spring rolls.

Ms. Elena also revealed: "I love Vietnamese cuisine because every dish has a lot of herbs. Besides, in each meal, vegetables and seafood are always fresh and delicious. Vietnamese cuisine is diverse in ingredients and rich flavors, definitely one of my favorite cuisines in the world.
Not only Vietnamese people or foreigners living in Vietnam, this snack trend also spread to the overseas Vietnamese community. Trang Tran (30 years old, born and raised in Germany), loves Vietnamese dishes very much. When she learned about rice paper dipped in lemon salt dipping sauce, she decided to try it immediately.
My first thought when I saw this eating trend was'crazy' to dip a thick stack of rice paper in water. I was worried that this dish might not taste and wasteful. But, this snack has conquered me," she said.
Trang Tran added: "The taste of this dish is like traditional Korean tokkboki cake - a dish also made from rice flour - cooked with chili sauce. In addition, I am also particularly impressed with rice paper rolls dipped in fermented fish sauce in Vietnam".
Before the rice paper dipped in lemon salt dipping sauce, many snack versions have conquered diners such as mixed rice paper, butter-rolled rice paper, rolled egg-filled rice paper... to grilled, fried versions or cheese paper, shrimp paste rice paper. The new trend continues to show the continuous creativity of the Vietnamese culinary community and the ability to refresh dishes that seem too familiar.
