Low pressure area is likely to appear in the East Sea next week

It is forecast that a new low pressure area is likely to appear in the East Sea next week.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that from now until June 21, there are 3 new low pressure areas likely to appear inside the country's responsibility area (PAR). Among them, one low pressure area is located in the East Sea area.

According to forecasts, in the week from June 8 to 14, a new low pressure area is likely to form in the Northwest Philippines sea area. The low to medium low pressure area is likely to develop more strongly in the following days.

According to forecasts, this system will appear in the Northwest PAR area, located near the East Sea. This may be a weather pattern to be monitored in the coming days.

Next week, from June 15 to 21, forecast models show that two new low pressure areas may appear. Among them, one low pressure area is likely to form in the South China Sea, off the southern coast of China, and the other area appears in the southeast of the Philippine responsibility area.

These two low pressure areas are also unlikely to develop into tropical depressions or storms.

PAGASA assessed the risk of tropical depressions appearing in the first week as "feasible", while the second week fell to "less likely". The agency said it would continue to monitor weather patterns and update when there are significant changes.

Meanwhile, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that in June 2026, in the East Sea area, the number of storms/tropical depressions is likely to appear at a level equivalent to the average of many years in the same period (the average of many years in the East Sea area is 1.1 storms and making landfall in Vietnam is 0.3 storms).

People and tourists planning to visit these sea areas should pay attention to weather forecasts. Follow local instructions and avoid going to sea when the sea is rough to ensure safety throughout the journey.
