A low pressure is active in the East Sea. Forecast of thunderstorms and rough seas.

According to a new low pressure information from the Philippine Atmospheric and Geophysical Agency (PAGASA), a low pressure is being monitored within the country's Area of Responsibility (PAR).

In the early morning of November 1, the low pressure was about 200km from Coron Island, Palawan.

The center of the low pressure is located at 11.8 degrees North latitude, 117.8 degrees East longitude. The low pressure is unlikely to strengthen into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the tropical convergence zone is currently active with an axis located at about 10-13 degrees North latitude and connecting with a low pressure area located at 01:00 on November 1 at about 11.5-12.50 degrees North latitude and 116.5-117.50 degrees East longitude.

Due to the influence of this system, the sea area from South Quang Tri to Quang Ngai, the Gulf of Thailand and the central East Sea will have scattered showers and thunderstorms.

In the Gulf of Tonkin, the Northeast wind is strong at level 5, sometimes increasing to level 6 and gusting to level 7, causing the sea to be slightly rough to moderate.

During the day and night of November 11, the North East Sea area (including the sea area of Hoang Sa archipelago) continues to be affected by strong northeast winds of level 6, sometimes gusting to level 7-8, causing rough seas with wave height of 2.0-4.0m.

In the Gulf of Tonkin and the sea area from South Quang Tri to Quang Ngai, the wind blowing in the Northeast direction is strong at level 5, sometimes at level 6, gusting to level 7-8, waves 1.5-3.0m high.

At the same time, the southern Gulf of Tonkin, the sea area from Quang Tri to Ca Mau, from Ca Mau to An Giang, the Gulf of Thailand, along with the entire North, Central and South East Sea (including Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos) will have scattered showers and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes and strong gusts of wind of level 6-7, with waves that may be higher than 2m, and special attention should be paid.

During the day and night of November 2, the North East Sea area (including Hoang Sa archipelago) is forecast to continue to have strong northeast winds of level 6, at night sometimes increasing to level 7, gusting to level 89, causing rough seas and waves to remain at 2.0-4.0m.

In the Gulf of Tonkin and the sea area from South Quang Tri to Quang Ngai, the Northeast wind will remain at level 5, sometimes level 6, gusting to level 7-8, causing rough seas and waves 1.5-3.0m high.

From October to December 2025, storms/tropical depressions active in the East Sea and affecting our country are likely to be at a higher level than the average of many years (4.5 storms), forecasting the possibility of 1.9 storms making landfall.

People and tourists should note that all boats operating in the above areas are at high risk of being affected by strong winds and large waves.

Limit outdoor activities in coastal areas, avoid going out to sea during bad weather.
