According to storm news, the latest low pressure from the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC), a tropical depression in the Pacific Ocean is about to strengthen into a storm.
As of the afternoon of July 19, the tropical depression is located south of the Baja California peninsula (Mexico). The strongest wind near the center of the low pressure currently reaches about 55 km/h.
The tropical depression is moving in a West-Northwest direction at a speed of about 19 km/h. In the next three days, the low pressure is forecast to continue in this direction before gradually shifting to the West due to the influence of the subtropical high pressure.
It is forecast that the tropical depression will strengthen into a storm this afternoon, July 19. After about 60 hours, the storm will rapidly strengthen with winds reaching 145 km/h.
The maximum intensity of the storm may reach about 175 km/h in the next 3-4 days, equivalent to a severe tropical storm. After that, the storm is forecast to gradually weaken as it moves into areas with lower sea surface temperatures.
Not far away, Typhoon Elida still maintains an intensity of 100 km/h in the Central Pacific. The typhoon is moving mainly northward, maintaining intensity for the next 3 days before gradually weakening into a low pressure area.
In the East Sea, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the day and night of July 19, the area north of the Gulf of Tonkin, the sea area from Ca Mau to An Giang, the Gulf of Thailand, the sea area east of the North and Central East Sea will have scattered showers and thunderstorms.
In thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind at level 6-7 and sea waves over 2.0m high.
All ships operating in the above areas are at risk of being affected by tornadoes, strong gusts of wind and high sea waves.
