According to storm news, the latest low pressure from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), at 4 am on August 6 (local time), storm No. 3 entered the mainland Philippines.
As of 7 am on August 6, the storm's center was in the San Juan area, Ilocos Sur province. The strongest wind near the center reached 65 km/h, gusting to 110 km/h. The storm is moving in an East direction at a speed of about 10 km/h.
It is forecast that storm No. 3 will continue to weaken when passing through the mountainous terrain in the North and Central Luzon Islands. The storm is likely to weaken into a tropical depression on the morning of August 6, then continue to degrade into a low pressure area in the afternoon or evening of the same day before integrating into the circulation of storm Dolphin. However, the weakening process may take place faster due to the impact of the terrain.
PAGASA has issued level 2 wind warning signals for many areas of Northern Luzon, including Ilocos Norte, most of Ilocos Sur, Abra provinces and some localities of Apayao, Kalinga. Level 1 wind warnings are maintained in the remaining areas of Ilocos Sur, La Union, Cagayan, Isabela, Benguet, Ifugao and some neighboring provinces.
Typhoon No. 3 combined with the Southwest monsoon, many areas in the Philippines continue to experience widespread heavy rain.
From now until the evening of August 6, the provinces of Ilocos Sur, La Union and Benguet may experience very heavy to extremely heavy rain, with rainfall over 200 mm. Pangasinan, Abra, Zambales, Kalinga, Mountain Province and Ifugao provinces are forecast to see 100-200 mm of rain, while Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Nueva Vizcaya, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Bataan, Pampanga and Bulacan are expected to see 50-100 mm of rain.
From the evening of August 6 to the evening of August 7, moderate to heavy rain continued to be maintained in Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan and Benguet, with rainfall from 50-100 mm. Meanwhile, the Southwest monsoon circulation also caused widespread rain in many areas in Southern Luzon and part of Western Visayas.
Occidental Mindoro province is likely to receive heavy rain of 100-200 mm on August 7, while Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas and Antique are forecast to receive 50-100 mm of rain.
From the evening of August 7 to the evening of August 8, heavy rain continued in many localities. Zambales, Bataan, La Union, Benguet and Occidental Mindoro are at risk of recording 100-200 mm of rain, while Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan, Abra, Tarlac, Pampanga, Cavite, Batangas and Antique continue to see 50-100 mm of rain.
PAGASA warns that prolonged heavy rain combined with hilly terrain may increase the risk of flooding, flash floods and landslides in areas directly affected by storm No. 3 and the Southwest monsoon. People and tourists are advised to closely monitor weather forecasts and comply with evacuation instructions from local authorities when necessary.
