According to the latest weather forecast from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on May 12, the Northern mountainous region experienced showers and localized thunderstorms.

It is forecasted that in the late afternoon and tonight, thunderstorms will continue to expand to many places in the North and Thanh Hoa with common rainfall from 10-30mm, some places may exceed 70mm.
In thunderstorms, there is a possibility of dangerous weather phenomena such as tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rain in a short time can cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides in hilly areas and flooding in low-lying areas.
Rainstorms can affect agricultural production, causing trees to fall, damage to houses, traffic works and infrastructure.
People and tourists are advised to limit movement through steep passes, streams or landslide-prone areas. When thunderstorms and tornadoes occur, it is necessary to find safe shelter, avoid standing near tall trees, billboards or empty areas to limit risks.
The Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting also recommends that people prepare plans to respond to extreme weather due to thunderstorms during the transitional season that are increasing in the Northern region.
