According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 9:00 PM on July 3rd, the center of storm No. 1 was located at about 18.9 degrees North latitude - 109.6 degrees East longitude, about 240km from Bach Long Vi special zone (Hai Phong), about 340km southeast of Mong Cai (Quang Ninh).
The strongest wind near the storm center reached level 8-9 (62-88km/h), gusting to level 11. The storm is moving in the North-Northwest direction, speed about 15km/h.
It is forecasted that by 7:00 PM on July 4th, the storm's center will be in the sea area of Quang Ninh province. The storm will continue to move in the North-Northwest direction at a speed of about 15km/h, entering the mainland of Quang Ninh and maintaining intensity level 8-9, gusting level 11.
By 7:00 PM on July 5th, the storm will enter the area of Guangxi province (China), change direction to the North, move at a speed of 10-15km/h and weaken into a tropical depression, intensity level 6, gusts level 8.
By 7:00 AM on July 6th, the tropical depression continued to move in the North-Northeast direction at a speed of 10-15km/h over the northern area of Guangxi province (China) and weakened into a low pressure area.
The meteorological agency warns of disaster risk level 3. The affected area includes the western part of the Northern East Sea; the northeastern sea area from southern Quang Tri to Quang Ngai; the Gulf of Tonkin (including Bach Long Vi, Van Don, Co To, Cat Hai, Hon Dau island special zone) and the coastal sea area from Quang Ninh to Hung Yen.
From the night of July 3rd, the western sea area of the Northern East Sea, the northeastern sea area from southern Quang Tri to Quang Ngai and the Gulf of Tonkin will have strong winds of level 6-7, near the storm center level 8-9, gusts of level 11; waves 2-4m high, very rough seas.
Dangerous weather conditions can cause capsizing, sinking or damage to fishing boats, transport boats, tourist boats and vehicles operating at sea; aquaculture cages, boat anchorage areas and coastal works at risk of damage.
From the afternoon of July 4, the coastal areas of Quang Ninh, Hai Phong and Hung Yen will have strong winds of level 6, near the storm center level 7-8, gusts of level 9-10; waves 2-3m high, storm surge of about 0.2-0.4m.
In addition, from the night of July 3rd to the end of July 5th, the Northeast region and Thanh Hoa will have heavy to very heavy rain, common rainfall of 100-200mm; especially the Northeast region has 200-300mm in some places, locally over 500mm.
Heavy rain can cause flooding in urban areas, industrial parks and low-lying areas, while increasing the risk of floods on small rivers and streams, flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas.
