According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the convective cloud area is developing strongly in Hanoi and tends to expand into the inner city area. In the next 1-3 hours, many wards and communes of the city are likely to experience showers and thunderstorms, accompanied by the risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
Tourists visiting outdoor tourist attractions in Hanoi such as the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake, Ba Vi or suburban areas should proactively monitor weather developments, limit movement when there are thunderstorms and find safe shelter if heavy rain occurs.
The North and Thanh Hoa have scattered showers and thunderstorms, common rainfall from 10-30mm, locally over 50mm. Rain mainly appears in the late afternoon, night and early morning, which may affect sightseeing, camping and mountain climbing activities.
Nghe An to Quang Tri have moderate rain, with heavy to very heavy rain in some places with rainfall of 20-50mm, locally over 100mm. Tourists coming to eco-tourism spots and mountainous areas need to be wary of the risk of flash floods and landslides.
The Central Highlands and Southern regions continue to have showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening, with common rainfall of 15-30mm, locally over 60mm. Rains may disrupt outdoor sightseeing and experiential tourism activities.
The meteorological agency warns that during thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind, posing a risk of unsafety for outdoor activities.
Tourists should regularly update weather bulletins before departure, prepare raincoats, umbrellas and waterproof items. For journeys to mountainous areas, waterfalls or river and stream areas, it is necessary to limit overnight stays in places at risk of landslides and flash floods and comply with the instructions of functional forces as well as tourist destination management units.
Localized heavy rain can also cause flooding in urban areas, affect traffic and slow travel schedules. Proactively monitoring weather forecasts will help tourists have a safer and more convenient trip.
