The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has updated the weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow (June 16) in regions across the country.
From June 16 to 17, the area from the South of Thanh Hoa to Da Nang City and the East of provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak will experience widespread hot weather. The highest temperature is commonly from 35-37 degrees Celsius, in some places above 38 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity is only from 50-55%, the hot weather lasts from about 11 am to 5 pm daily.
The meteorological agency believes that this heat wave is likely to last for many days to come.
Prolonged hot weather increases the risk of fires and explosions in residential areas, production facilities and forest fires. At the same time, people are at risk of water loss, fatigue, and exhaustion if they work or operate outdoors for a long time.
Meanwhile, from the evening of June 15 to June 17, the mountainous and midland areas of the Northern region will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms. Common rainfall from 60-130mm, in some places over 200mm. Rain mainly concentrates in the late afternoon, night and early morning. It is noteworthy that some areas may experience very heavy rain, exceeding 100mm in 3 hours.
From the night of June 17 to the night of June 18, the Northern mountainous region will continue to have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall from 30-80mm, locally over 120mm.
In addition, in the late afternoon and night of June 15, the Northern Delta and Southern regions will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with common rainfall from 10-30mm, in some places over 70mm.
The meteorological agency warns that during thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. At the same time, in the next 6 hours, the risk of flash floods, landslides and subsidence on slopes and small streams is warned in Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang and Lang Son provinces.
People in high-risk areas need to closely monitor weather forecasts, proactively take disaster prevention measures to minimize damage to people and property.
