Updated bulletin issued at 2:30 PM on May 19 from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, through monitoring on satellite images, weather radar images and lightning positioning data, convective clouds are developing in the area of Kieu Phu, Phu Cat, Yen Xuan, Dan Hoa, Ung Thien, Phuong Duc communes. These cloud areas tend to develop and expand towards the inner city of Hanoi.
In the period from 30 minutes to 3 hours, Xuan Phuong, Tay Mo, Duong Noi, Yen Nghia, Phu Luong, Chuong My, Kien Hung, Ha Dong, Dai Mo wards will have showers and thunderstorms, then continue to spread to other areas in inner Hanoi. The meteorological agency warns that in thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.
Regarding the upcoming rain developments, it is forecast that from the night of May 19 to the night of May 20, the Northern region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall of 40 - 80mm, locally over 250mm.
In the afternoon and night of May 19, the Central Highlands region will have rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms with rainfall of 20 - 40mm, locally heavy to very heavy rain over 100mm.
In the late afternoon and night of May 19, the area from Ha Tinh to Hue City, the South Central Coast and Southern regions will have scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall of 10 - 30mm, locally heavy rain over 70mm.
