The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has updated the weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow (June 18) in regions across the country.
On June 18, hot sun appeared in the area from Ha Tinh to Da Nang City and eastern provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak, with intense heat in some places. The highest temperature is commonly from 35 - 37 degrees C, some places above 37 degrees C. The lowest humidity during the day ranges from 50 - 55%.
On June 19, hot weather tends to increase. The area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang City and the eastern provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak continue to record high temperatures from 36 - 38 degrees Celsius, with some places exceeding 38 degrees Celsius. The lowest humidity is commonly from 50 - 55%.
The meteorological agency predicts that hot weather in the area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang City and eastern provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak is likely to last for many days to come. From around June 20, the midland and delta areas of the Northern region may experience a widespread hot spell.
Meanwhile, from the evening of June 17 to the early morning of June 18, the mountainous and midland areas of the Northern region will have rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms with common rainfall from 20 - 40 mm, locally over 100 mm.
In the late afternoon and evening of June 17, the Central Highlands and Southern regions will continue to experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with common rainfall from 10 - 30 mm, in some places over 80 mm.
The meteorological agency notes that during thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rain may cause flooding in low-lying areas, while increasing the risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams and landslides in hilly areas.
In addition, prolonged hot weather combined with low humidity increases the risk of fires and explosions in residential areas due to increased electricity demand, and at the same time poses a potential risk of forest fires. People need to limit outdoor work during hot weather, supplement enough water and proactively take health protection measures.
