According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the evening and night of July 29, the weather in many areas across the country will be complicated, tourists need to proactively follow the forecast before moving or participating in outdoor activities.
In the South and Lam Dong province, it is forecast to have moderate rain, heavy rain with thunderstorms, common rainfall from 20-40mm, locally over 100mm. The risk of heavy rain intensity in a short time (over 100mm in 3 hours) may cause localized flooding in urban areas, tourist destinations and mountain passes.
Meanwhile, the Northern region and from Thanh Hoa to Khanh Hoa have scattered showers and thunderstorms, common rainfall of 10-30mm, with heavy rain in some places over 70mm.
Tourists visiting mountainous areas, highlands, waterfalls, streams or trekking should pay special attention to the risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms. The meteorological agency warns of disaster risk level 1 due to tornadoes, lightning and hail.
Heavy rain can also cause flooding in low-lying areas, urban areas, and industrial parks, while increasing the risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams and landslides on slopes. Tourists should limit travel through deeply flooded areas, steep mountain passes or landslide risk points when the weather turns bad.
