According to new weather news from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the afternoon of December 16, the Northeast wind in many sea areas increased sharply.
At Huyen Tran station, strong northeast winds of level 6 were recorded, gusting to level 7; Phu Quy station had gusts of level 7, signaling a remarkable sea of rough seas in the East Sea.
Weather forecast for the night of December 16 and December 17, the North East Sea area, including Hoang Sa special zone, has strong Northeast winds of level 6, while the East will reach level 6-7, gusting to level 8-9. Strong sea, waves from 3.0 to 5.0m high.
The sea area from Khanh Hoa to Ca Mau and the western sea area of the South China Sea, including the western sea area of Truong Sa province, has strong northeast winds of level 6, gusting to level 7-8; rough seas, waves from 2.0 to 3.0m high.
Weather forecast for December 17, the North of the Central East Sea will continue to be affected by strong northeast winds of level 6, gusting to level 78, causing rough seas, waves from 2.0 to 4.0m high. The Gulf of Tonkin and the sea area from South Quang Tri to Dak Lak will have strong northeast winds of level 5, sometimes level 6, gusting to level 7-8; waves from 2.0 to 3.5m high.
Notably, on the night of December 16 and 17, the South China Sea, including the Truong Sa special zone, will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, there is a potential risk of tornadoes and strong gusts of wind.
The meteorological agency warned that on the night of December 17, the North East Sea area (including Hoang Sa archipelago) will continue to have strong northeast winds of level 6, especially in the East level 6-7, gusting to level 8-9; waves from 3.0 to 5.0m high. The sea area north of the Central East Sea will have strong winds of level 6, gusting to level 7-8; waves from 2.0 to 4.0m high.
From December 18, the wind will tend to decrease.
On the night of December 17 and December 18, the sea area from Khanh Hoa to Ca Mau and the southwest sea of the East Sea (west of Truong Sa) will still maintain strong northeast winds of level 6, gusting to level 7-8; rough seas, waves from 2.0 to 3.0m high.
The level of natural disaster risk at sea is determined at level 2. All vessels operating in the above areas are warned of a high risk of being affected by strong winds, large waves and dangerous weather.
Given the complicated weather at sea, tourists are advised to closely monitor meteorological bulletins and follow the instructions of authorities and transport units to ensure safety during travel and sightseeing.
