Super typhoon Ragasa makes landfall for the first time, officially entering the East Sea

Super typhoon Ragasa officially entered the East Sea on the evening of September 22.

According to the latest weather report from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), super typhoon Ragasa made landfall on Panuitan Island, Cagayan Province on the afternoon of September 22. The super typhoon caused heavy rain, strong winds and big waves in the northern Philippines.

As of 10:00 p.m. on September 22, the super typhoon has passed through Panutian Island, officially entering the East Sea. The center of the super typhoon is located at about 19.5 degrees North latitude - 120.1 degrees East longitude, about 145 km northwest of Calayan, Cagayan.

The strongest wind near the center of the storm reached 205 km/h, gusting up to 285 km/h. The super typhoon is moving west at a speed of 20 km/h. Strong winds extended up to 650 km from the center of the super typhoon.

Due to the impact of super typhoon Ragasa, some areas in the Philippines will have heavy rain, strong winds of 118 - 184 km/h. PAGASA forecasts that storms can seriously threaten human property and life.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, by 7:00 p.m. on September 23, super typhoon Ragasa moved in a West-Northwest direction at a speed of 20-25 km/h and moved deep into the East Sea. The center of the super typhoon is located at about 20.9 degrees North latitude - 116.1 degrees East longitude, in the northeastern sea area of the North East Sea. Strong wind level 17, gusting over level 17. Natural disaster risk level: level 4 for the northeastern sea area of the North East Sea.

The super typhoon will continue to move to the mainland of Guangzhou province (China) and gradually weaken before returning to the East Sea and entering the mainland of Vietnam on September 26.

Due to the influence of super typhoon Ragasa, the sea area north of the North East Sea will gradually increase to level 8-9, then increase to level 10-14, the area near the center of the super typhoon will have level 15-17, gusts above level 17, waves above 10.0m high; the sea will be very rough.

From September 24, the wind in the Gulf of Tonkin will gradually increase to level 6-7, then increase to level 8-10, the area near the storm's eye will have level 11-12, gusts of level 15, waves 5.0-7.0m high; the sea will be very rough.

Ship operating in the above-mentioned dangerous areas are likely to be affected by thunderstorms, whirlwinds, very strong winds, and very large waves.
