Tourist attraction from Hanoi's night economy

Hanoi is studying the development of the night economy with many cultural, entertainment and service spaces, towards a new growth engine.

When night falls, Ta Hien street is still brightly lit and bustling with tourists. The culinary space, music and street activities have become familiar rendezvous points for many international tourists when coming to Hanoi.

Mr. Noah, a tourist from Australia, said he chose Ta Hien to meet friends, enjoy beer and observe the city's pace of life. "The atmosphere here is great, something is always going on. Compared to Melbourne on Sunday evening, this place is much more vibrant and brings a very happy feeling," Noah shared.

Meanwhile, Ms. Nikki (Australia) said that what impressed her the most was the street food culture. "Busy restaurants with rows of low plastic chairs on the sidewalk are often the place that brings the most authentic culinary experience of Hanoi," the female tourist shared.

From the attraction of spaces like Ta Hien street, Hanoi is gradually shaping a map of the night economy with many characteristic development areas. Hanoi People's Committee has just issued plan No. 282/KH-UBND to implement the City People's Council's Resolution on developing the night economy, setting a target that by 2030, the night economy will gradually become an important driving force of the Capital's service economy, contributing about 5% of GRDP and increasing contribution to budget revenue.

According to the plan, Hanoi will develop and operate key night economic zones effectively with appropriate support policies for each region. The cultural - heritage night economic space will be concentrated in Hoan Kiem, Cua Nam, Ba Dinh, Son Tay, Soc Son and areas with cultural heritage potential, prioritizing the development of cultural tourism, art performances, heritage experiences and traditional cuisine.

For the entertainment - modern area, the city orients the development of commercial, shopping, entertainment, sports and health care complexes in Tay Ho - Tay Ho Tay, My Dinh, Dong Anh, Hoa Lac and many new urban areas such as Cau Giay, Nam Tu Liem, Ha Dong, Gia Lam. Hanoi is also studying extending the operating time of some suitable areas to reduce pressure on the historical center.

Mr. Harry (Australia) has been to Hanoi twice, saying he especially loves the nighttime atmosphere of the capital in the old streets. "Hanoi is a city very suitable for walking and exploring. I think the surrounding areas can also expand nighttime activities because there is still a lot of potential," the tourist said.

From the perspective of the people, Mr. Ha Duc Viet (Phu Dien, Hanoi) believes that developing the night economy is necessary but needs a suitable roadmap: "If implemented, the city needs to carefully study and build an effective management mechanism to both create more tourism products, develop the economy, and ensure safety for people and tourists, limiting the impact on public order.

Hanoi will continue to review and select areas with suitable infrastructure conditions to study the model of controlled nighttime entertainment service areas, operating after 24h or 24/24h with some types such as karaoke, bar, pub, club, while ensuring security, order and cultural requirements.
