Hanoi tourism revenue exceeds 86,000 billion VND after the first 7 months of the year

Hanoi tourism continued to maintain its growth momentum in the first 7 months of 2026 when welcoming more than 21.16 million visitors, an increase of 15% compared to the same period last year.

According to a report by the Hanoi Department of Tourism, in July 2026, the total number of tourists to the Capital is estimated at 3.16 million, an increase of 11.3% compared to the same period in 2025. Of which, international visitors reached about 666,670, an increase of 13.1%; domestic visitors reached 2.5 million, an increase of 10.9%. Total revenue from tourism in the month is estimated at 12,300 billion VND, an increase of 11.8%.

Accumulated in the first 7 months of the year, Hanoi welcomed about 21.16 million visitors, an increase of 15% compared to the same period in 2025. Of which, international visitors reached 5.31 million, an increase of 25%; domestic visitors reached 15.85 million, an increase of 11.9%. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at 86,470 billion VND, an increase of 17.9% compared to the same period last year.

Currently, Hanoi has 3,769 accommodation establishments with 72,404 rooms. In July, hotel room occupancy rate is estimated at 58.19%, an increase of 1.25 percentage points compared to the same period in 2025. The city also has 64 service business establishments that meet standards to serve tourists, contributing to meeting the needs of accommodation, shopping, entertainment and experience of tourists.

In parallel with the growth in the number of visitors, the Hanoi Department of Tourism continues to implement many tasks to improve the quality of destinations. In July, the unit surveyed and assessed the conditions for recognizing national-level tourist areas for Hoan Kiem Lake area - adjacent area and Hanoi Old Quarter, Ba Vi tourist area.

In addition, the Capital is developing a plan to develop tourism activities at the Village of Culture - Tourism of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups; organizing the announcement of Muong Coc community tourism products (My Duc commune) and implementing survey programs to connect destinations in many localities in the city.

Promotion and advertising work has also been promoted with many activities such as building a Hanoi tourism introduction program in Beijing (China), participating in the Tianjin Culture and Tourism Industry Fair, organizing a tourism promotion conference in Shanxi, and coordinating to organize the Hanoi Lotus Festival 2026, attracting nearly 300,000 visitors.

At the same time, the Department of Tourism continues to implement communication activities, welcome international press delegations, build promotional programs on CNN channels, organize training for tour guides and promote digital transformation, applying artificial intelligence in smart tourism development.

Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Dang Huong Giang said that in August 2026, the tourism industry will focus on completing the Tourism Development Project with the goal of attracting over 12 million international visitors; continue to develop agricultural, rural, and community-based tourism products; organize promotion programs in Beijing and participate in international tourism fairs.

Along with that, Hanoi will complete surveys to prepare dossiers for recognition of 3 national tourist areas including Ba Vi tourist area, special national relic tourist area of Huong Son complex and Hoan Kiem Lake area - vicinity, Hanoi Old Quarter; continue to implement tourism development activities at the Village of Culture - Tourism of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups.
