With the theme "Elevating destinations - Connecting journeys", after nearly 8 months of launching, the program "Attractive tourist destinations of Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta in 2024" has 126 tourist destinations with outstanding tourism resources, products and services, capable of attracting and meeting the needs of tourists for sightseeing, relaxation, entertainment, and qualified to participate.
The results of 50 destinations were voted into the Top 50 attractive tourist destinations in Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta. Of which, An Giang province has 3 destinations, including: Sam Mountain National Tourist Area, Tra Su Melaleuca Forest Tourist Area and Con En Eco-tourism Site.
Sam Mountain Tourist Area is located in Sam Mountain Ward, the only place in An Giang Province recognized as a National Tourist Area. It owns 4 National Cultural and Historical Relics, including: Sam Mountain Lady Temple, Thoai Ngoc Hau Tomb, Tay An Pagoda, Hang Pagoda. In particular, Sam Mountain Lady Festival is recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Tra Su Melaleuca Forest tourist site (Tinh Bien town) covers an area of 845 hectares, located in Van Giao commune (Tinh Bien town) and part of O Long Vi commune (Chau Phu district). It is a typical wetland of the West Hau River sub-region. It is home to 22 species of reptiles, 11 species of mammals, 23 species of aquatic animals and 140 species of plants belonging to 52 families and 102 genera. Of which, there are nearly 80 species of medicinal herbs.
During the flood season, Tra Su Melaleuca Forest is home to over 70 species of birds and storks. Among them, there are 2 species listed in the “Vietnam Red Book”, the Indian stork (Giang Sen) and the snake-necked stork (Dien Dien). The diversity of landscapes and rich resources make Tra Su Melaleuca Forest an interesting destination for those who love to explore nature.
Con En Eco-tourism Site (Cho Moi District) is 6.7 hectares wide, located on the edge of a sandbank emerging in the middle of the Tien River, so it is considered the "hinge" of land and water. Coming here, visitors can experience bathing in the river as if bathing in the middle of a vast ocean. Especially, enjoy delicious dishes made from homegrown plants, garden leaves, and alluvial river water...
And one of the highlights that makes the difference here is that most of the construction works are made from agarwood, a type of wood that has been submerged in water for many years.
