The first millionth visitor to the Quang Ninh Museum in 2025 is Mr. Lionel Klotz, a 67-year-old teacher from Toronto, Canada.
With unique architecture, located right on the shore of Ha Long Bay, along with tens of thousands of artifacts and documents including many national treasures, Quang Ninh Museum is a must-see destination for visitors to Quang Ninh.
This is also the only provincial-level comprehensive museum nationwide and is among the three museums nationwide that are 100% self-sufficient thanks to ticket sales.
In 2019, the Quang Ninh Museum welcomed 375,000 visitors, achieving a revenue of more than 10.3 billion VND. The next 2 years will see a sharp decrease in both the number of visitors and revenue due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, revenue will increase again, reaching more than 16 billion VND, with nearly 700,000 visitors. In the following years, the number of visitors gradually increased and in 2024, revenue from ticket sales is estimated to reach about 22.6 billion VND.
The Quang Ninh Museum was inaugurated and put into service for visitors in mid-October 2013. This place is likened to a mysterious, precious, and valuable black pearl on the beautiful Ha Long Bay.

The Quang Ninh Museum and Library project was designed by Spanish architect Salvador Perez Arroyo, inspired by the image of coal - a typical mineral of Quang Ninh. This architectural work won the 2013 Project Award.
In particular, the building is installed with 14,000m2 of semi-strength glass that is resistant to self-breakage due to heat changes. With bold architectural techniques, the exterior of the building is designed like a giant mirror reflecting the image of the world natural heritage Ha Long Bay. Therefore, tourists and residents have the opportunity to witness the magical color changes of the Quang Ninh Museum according to each time frame and weather.
