To serve the Hanoi Countdown 2026 and New Year's Day fireworks programs, Hanoi City Police announced road and traffic restrictions in the central area, especially around Hoan Kiem Lake, from the afternoon of December 31, 2025.
Accordingly, from 1:00 PM on December 31, vehicles are prohibited from circulating in the Hoan Kiem Lake pedestrian street area. At the same time, passenger cars and trucks are not allowed to operate on the routes: Ngo Quyen, Hai Ba Trung, Ly Thuong Kiet, Hang Trong, Nha Chung, Hang Gai, Hang Hom and Ly Thai To.
Next, from 6 pm on December 31, 2025 to dawn on January 1, 2026, functional forces tighten traffic diversion:
Cars are prohibited from circulating on Hai Ba Trung and Hang Bai routes.
All vehicles are prohibited on Hang Trong, Hang Hom, Hang Gai and Ly Thai To routes.
Vehicles from Nguyen Huu Huan street are prohibited from entering the Old Quarter area.
Hanoi Police will organize remote traffic diversion and regulation at Ly Thuong Kiet - Ba Trieu, Ly Thuong Kiet - Hang Bai, Ly Thuong Kiet - Quang Trung intersections and adjacent routes, to limit congestion and ensure safety for people and tourists watching New Year's fireworks in Hanoi.
Traffic participants are advised to proactively monitor traffic prohibition information, comply with the instructions of functional forces; absolutely give way to priority vehicles, vehicles on duty, and stop vehicles close to the right side when necessary.
According to the plan, from the evening of December 31, 2025 to the early morning of January 1, 2026, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports organizes the New Year 2026 Art Program, including Hanoi Countdown 2026 and New Year's Day fireworks display points, serving people and tourists in the city center area.
