To ensure security and order and create space for people and tourists to play and enjoy New Year's fireworks, Ho Chi Minh City will ban vehicles from circulating on more than 20 central area roads on the night of December 31, according to a notice from the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police Department.
According to the plan to welcome the new year 2026, Ho Chi Minh City organizes high-altitude fireworks displays at three locations including: the area at the beginning of the Saigon River tunnel (An Khanh ward), Binh Duong New City Center and Tam Thang Square (Vung Tau ward).
In addition, the city also arranges many low-altitude fireworks display points such as Dam Sen Cultural Park (Binh Thoi ward), Saigon Marina IFC tower area (Saigon ward)...
Along with fireworks displays, many art and entertainment programs also take place on New Year's Eve to welcome the new year 2026.

To limit congestion when people gather in the central area, from 9 pm on December 31 to 1 am on January 1, Ho Chi Minh City will ban all types of vehicles from circulating on more than 20 routes, including: Le Loi (section from Pasteur to Dong Khoi), Nguyen Hue (from Le Thanh Ton to Ton Duc Thang), Dong Khoi (from Mac Thi Buoi to Ton Duc Thang), Ton Duc Thang (from Le Duan to Khanh Hoi bridge).
Other roads subject to traffic ban include: Nguyen Huu Canh (Ton Duc Thang - Nguyen Binh Khiem), Vo Van Kiet (Pasteur - Khanh Hoi underpass), Ngo Van Nam (Nguyen Sieu - Ton Duc Thang), Nguyen Sieu (Ngo Van Nam - Ton Duc Thang), Nguyen Tat Thanh (Hoang Dieu - Khanh Hoi bridge), Ham Nghi (Pasteur - Ton Duc Thang), Hai Trieu (Ho Tung Mau - Nguyen Hue), Nguyen Thiep (Dong Khoi - Nguyen Hue).
In addition, Huynh Thuc Khang, Ton That Thiep (Pasteur - Nguyen Hue), Nguyen Cong Tru (Pasteur - Ho Tung Mau), Mac Thi Buoi (Dong Khoi - Nguyen Hue), Hai Ba Trung (Dong Du - Me Linh Square), Ho Tung Mau, Ton That Dam (Vo Van Kiet - Ton That Thiep), along with routes around the Me Linh Square roundabout such as Ngo Duc Ke, Ho Huan Nghiep, Thi Sach and the Ba Son and Khanh Hoi bridge areas are also temporarily closed to vehicles.
During the road ban, vehicles from Thanh Tay ward (old Binh Thanh) to Xom Chieu ward (old District 4) are guided to circulate according to alternative routes: Nguyen Huu Canh - Nguyen Binh Khiem - Le Duan - Nam Ky Khoi Nghia - Nguyen Du - Cach Mang Thang Tam - Nguyen Thi Nghia - Nguyen Thai Hoc - Ong Lanh bridge - Hoang Dieu - Nguyen Tat Thanh.
The opposite direction follows the route: Nguyen Tat Thanh - Hoang Dieu - Ong Lanh bridge - Nguyen Thai Hoc - Nguyen Thi Nghia - August Revolution - Nguyen Thi Minh Khai - Soviet Nghe Tinh.
For the direction from Thu Duc (old) to District 5, District 10 (old), vehicles travel on the route: Vo Nguyen Giap - Dien Bien Phu - Dinh Tien Hoang - Vo Thi Sau - Ba Thang Hai - Le Hong Phong. In the opposite direction, travel on the route: Le Hong Phong - Dien Bien Phu - Vo Nguyen Giap.
In addition to the central area of Ho Chi Minh City, in the Old Binh Duong New City Center, from 8:00 PM on December 31, traffic is also prohibited on some routes including: Hung Vuong (from Vo Van Kiet intersection to Ly Thai To), Le Loi (from Le Duan to Huynh Thuc Khang), Huynh Thuc Khang (from Le Loi to Truong Sa).
Especially in the area of Bai Sau Central Square, Vung Tau ward, from 9 pm on December 31, the Thuy Van (Trung Con - Thi Sach Troupe), Le Hong Phong (Tycomian Monument roundabout - Thuy Van), Tran Chanh Chieu and Le Van Tho (Su Van Hanh - Thuy Van) routes are also temporarily closed to vehicles.
People and tourists need to actively monitor alternative routes to avoid congestion when traveling on New Year's Eve.
