In the first 6 months of 2026, Gia Lai province organized 60 cultural, sports and tourism events, creating a spreading effect, contributing to promoting the local image, promoting tourism growth and gradually affirming its position as an attractive destination on the Vietnam tourism map.
In particular, Gia Lai's hosting of National Tourism Year 2026 has created a strong attraction for tourists. In the first 6 months of the year, the whole province welcomed more than 8.7 million visitors, an increase of about 19% compared to the same period in 2025. Total revenue from tourism reached more than 19,000 billion VND.
However, according to Ms. Do Thi Dieu Hanh - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gia Lai province, the tourism industry still has many limitations that need to be overcome. Tourism products are more diverse but not really different, competitiveness is not high; length of stay and spending of tourists are still low; night economy and high-class entertainment services are still lacking; a part of service business establishments still do not ensure service quality and tourism civilization...
To achieve the goal of welcoming 18.5 million visitors by 2030, including 1.1 million international visitors, revenue reaching 35,000 billion VND and making tourism an important economic sector of the province, Ms. Hanh said that in the coming time, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will focus on building Gia Lai brand products based on exploiting the difference between the sea and the plateau.
The province will prioritize the development of ecotourism, resort, community, agriculture, local culture, sports, MICE and health care to extend stays and increase tourist spending.
Forming typical tourist routes and spaces such as Quy Nhon - Nhon Chau - Con Chim; Bien Ho - Kon Ka Kinh - Kon Chu Rang - Kon Ha Nung; Bahnar and Jrai cultural villages; developing night tourism and unique cultural and culinary experiences.
In parallel, the province prioritizes investing in transport infrastructure connecting the sea and plateau; developing national tourist areas, key tourist areas, high-class resorts, entertainment complexes and marinas.
The tourism industry will focus on improving the quality of destinations and service quality, building a civilized, safe, and friendly tourism environment associated with the "3K - 3A" message: "No soliciting - No overcharging - No littering" and "Safety - Compassion - Impression", aiming for each citizen to be a tourism ambassador.
According to Ms. Hanh, in the near future, the province will continue to improve the tourism development policy system, focusing on issuing policies to support community tourism development to effectively exploit cultural and ecological resources and increase income for people.
At the same time, implementing policies to support businesses to operate non-scheduled international charter flights to Phu Cat Airport, contributing to expanding the international aviation connection network, attracting potential customer markets, improving the competitiveness of destinations, and helping the tourism industry grow sustainably.
