Of which, international visitors reached about 709,330 arrivals, an increase of 23.2%, including about 500,000 overnight visitors. Domestic visitors reached 2.3 million arrivals, an increase of 6.5%.
Total revenue from tourists in May is estimated at 12.05 trillion VND, an increase of 13.7% compared to the same period last year.
In general, in the first 5 months of 2026, Hanoi is estimated to welcome 14.98 million visitors, an increase of 17.2% compared to the same period in 2025. Of which, international visitors reached about 4.06 million, an increase of 28.1%; domestic visitors reached 10.92 million, an increase of 13.7%.
Total revenue from tourists in the first 5 months of the year reached about 62.77 trillion VND, an increase of 20.6% compared to the same period last year.

Notably, the Capital's tourism industry is expected to continue to maintain its growth momentum in June. According to estimates, in the first 6 months of 2026, Hanoi will welcome about 18.01 million visitors, an increase of 15.7% compared to the same period in 2025.
Of which, international visitors are estimated at 4.64 million, an increase of 26.8%, including 3.27 million overnight visitors; domestic visitors reached about 13.37 million, an increase of 12.3%.
Total revenue from tourists in the first 6 months of 2026 is estimated at 74.23 trillion VND, an increase of 19.1% compared to the same period last year.
Along with the increase in the number of visitors, tourism accommodation activities in Hanoi also recorded positive results. In the first 5 months of 2026, the average room occupancy rate of the hotel sector is estimated to reach 65.7%, an increase of 2.6 percentage points compared to the same period in 2025.
It is estimated that in the first 6 months of the year, room occupancy rate reached 65.64%, an increase of 2.3 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
Currently, Hanoi has 3.761 tourist accommodation establishments with 71,286 rooms. Among these, there are 66 hotels and apartment complexes that are in a 1-to 5-star rating period with a total of 9,993 rooms. In addition, the city has 3,676 unregistered accommodation establishments with a total of 61,293 rooms.
According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, in the last 6 months of 2026, the city will continue to promote the development of new tourism products to enhance the experience for tourists. Some products expected to be launched include the community tourism model in My Duc, the "Hoarding Spirit of Saint Giong" night tourism product at Soc Temple, agricultural tourism models, craft villages and cultural experiences in many localities.
Hanoi also aims to expand tourism space with river tourism routes, high-quality Hanoi - Thai Nguyen train routes, and at the same time research and develop new pedestrian streets and food streets to extend the length of stay and increase tourist spending.
In addition, the Capital's tourism industry will promote promotion on international media channels, strengthen digital transformation, deploy electronic ticketing systems at tourist areas and attractions, and build a centralized industry database. The city is also developing a tourism development project with breakthrough solutions, aiming to attract over 12 million international visitors by 2030.
