On April 22, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong City organized a workshop on "Developing waterway tourism in Hai Phong: Science, orientation and solutions".
Co -presiding over the workshop is the Director of the National Tourism Department Nguyen Trung Khanh and the Director of Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Tran Thi Hoang Mai. Attending the seminar were also leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong City and Hai Duong Province, economic experts, tourism, researchers, management, enterprises inside and outside the city.

According to Director of the Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Tran Thi Hoang Mai: The city has a network of dense river mouths, the largest river density in the North with more than 50 large and small rivers, including 16 main rivers, most famously the Bach Dang River, Cam River, Lach Tray River, Van Uc River and Thai Binh River.
Therefore, Hai Phong is also known as the city of rivers, the city of bridges. These rivers not only carry many cultural and historical values but also play an important role in the city's socio-economic development process.
Despite such potential advantages, Hai Phong currently does not have a river tour, but only has river tourism and some spontaneous tourism activities.
The reason for not developing Hai Phong river tourism is due to poor waterway infrastructure, Hai Phong's ports and wharves are general and cargo ports, no international cruise ports, no cruise ship ports, and many destinations do not have cruise ports.
River landscapes for tourism development have not been properly invested in; cultural experience points, history, beliefs, community activities, ecology, riverside entertainment have not been developed...

In the coming years, Hai Phong tourism is oriented to truly develop into a spearhead economic sector, one of the three strategic breakthroughs for the city's socio-economic development.
Focusing on developing river tourism associated with island resort tourism products, discovery tourism, and cultural experiences will be a priority direction in the Hai Phong Tourism Development Strategy to 2030" - Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Mai said.
At the workshop, nearly 20 presentations from experts, managers, and tourism businesses discussed the reality, potential, and advantages of developing waterway tourism in Hai Phong.

On the same day, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a survey team to experience the tourist route along the Ruot Lon River and Cam River, visit the planned construction locations of pick-up and drop-off wharves, yacht wharves, sightseeing experiences, check-in points for tourists...
