Vuc Rao fishing festival in Nam Vien village, Nghi Xuan commune (also known as Dong Hoa fishing festival) has a history of nearly 300 years.
From early morning, hundreds of people gathered in the Vuc Rao area, carrying traditional fishing tools such as nets, nets, and traps to wait for the opening time of the festival.
After the opening drum, hundreds of people simultaneously waded down to the water area of about 30ha to catch fish. Cheers and encouragement echoed every time someone caught a big fish, creating a lively atmosphere.
The festival attracts a large number of people and tourists from all over the country with all kinds of participants including old, young, men, and women to preserve the beauty of traditional culture and increase cohesion in the residential community.
At the end of the festival, the organizers awarded first, second, and third prizes to those who caught fish with a large weight. In which, Mr. Phan Van Binh (Gia Phu village, Nghi Xuan commune) won first prize when he caught a carp weighing 5.7kg.
