According to the South China Morning Post, the accident occurred on March 9 when a5-year-old female tourist was on a train from Nanu Oya to Badulla.
This person swinged out of the boat to take a photo. The female tourist's head hit a wall while the train was passing through a tunnel, causing her to fall.
The victim was taken to a local hospital for emergency treatment before being transferred to two other hospitals for intensive treatment.
The victim is still in critical condition.
On March 10, the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka posted a warning on its official website, warning tourists traveling by train to stay away from entering and exiting the country to ensure safety.
The announcement also emphasized that, because trains in Sri Lanka often pass through intersections and road sections without guardrails, tourists should not stay to take photos to avoid unfortunate accidents.
Earlier, in February, a Russian female tourist also died after carrying someone outside the train car to take photos.
The victim, Olga Perminova, had an accident while traveling on the podi Menike train, a 300km long railway connecting Colombo Fort and Badulla.
According to local police, she hit a rock, fell off the ship and was seriously injured, leading to her death.
