According to instructions sent to ministries, branches and localities, this year's holiday schedule is built on the basis of the 2019 Labor Code. The information spreading about workers being able to take up to 9 consecutive days off is inaccurate, because there is no official proposal related to changing working days.
Specifically, the Hung Kings Commemoration Day holiday (March 10th of the lunar calendar) in 2026 falls on Sunday (April 26th of the solar calendar). Due to coinciding with weekly holidays, workers will have compensatory leave on Monday (April 27th). Thus, this holiday lasts for 3 consecutive days, from April 25th to the end of April 27th.
For the April 30 - May 1 holiday schedule, employees are entitled to 2 days off as prescribed. If applying the Saturday and Sunday holiday regime, the total holiday period can last 4 days, from April 30 to the end of May 3.

Overall, the holiday schedule for these two major holidays is up to 7 days but not continuous. After the Giỗ Tổ holiday, workers will return to work for two days, April 28 and April 29, before entering the next holiday. The normal working schedule will be resumed from May 4.
The Ministry of Home Affairs also requested agencies and units to implement a unified holiday schedule according to regulations. For the business sector, in addition to the common schedule, employers can flexibly arrange suitable holiday schedules through agreements with employees to ensure production and business activities.
Although the holiday schedule does not last continuously, travel and tourism demand during this period is still forecast to increase sharply due to the fairly short distance between the two holidays. Many people choose to ask for 1-2 more days off to connect the holiday schedule, or divide the journey into short trips.
In that context, people and tourists are recommended to proactively plan early to take advantage of the holiday effectively, while avoiding overload and increased costs. Choosing a time of travel delayed, such as traveling on April 28-29 or after May 1, also helps reduce traffic pressure. For short trips, destinations about 2-4 hours away from the center continue to be a suitable choice during this occasion.
