Lam Dong - Surfing and kite surfing activities serving tourists at sea are identified as not belonging to the type of extreme sports.

On July 24, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province said that the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) has issued a document confirming that surfing and kite surfing activities at sea serving tourists are not on the list of extreme sports activities and the list of sports activities that require a training guide.

This is considered a basis to remove obstacles in the process of resolving dossiers for businesses doing this type of business in Mui Ne - a destination famous for favorable wind and wave conditions, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists to experience surfing and kite surfing.

Previously, Mui Ne Ward People's Committee had requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to guide the settlement of dossiers of two businesses registering to organize windsurfing and kitesurfing activities.

Based on the opinions of the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports and current regulations, the Department determined that this is an activity of renting equipment combined with skills guidance to serve tourists, not a training and sports training activity.

However, this is a tourism product that is at risk of affecting the lives and health of tourists, so it must meet safety assurance conditions according to regulations.

To put the service into operation, businesses must complete procedures for registering water entertainment vehicles, registering and announcing operating areas, and at the same time notify the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to check and confirm safety conditions before welcoming guests.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province also requested the People's Committee of Mui Ne ward to guide businesses to complete dossiers, resolve procedures under their authority and strengthen inspection and supervision to ensure safety for tourists during operation.
