According to booking data on the online travel platform Agoda in the first 6 months of 2026, Da Nang is the destination with the highest return rate in Vietnam and ranks 6th in the ranking of Asian cities. Compared to 2025, the city has increased two places.
Tokyo leads the list, followed by Bangkok, Bali, Seoul and Osaka. After Da Nang are Kuala Lumpur, Fukuoka, Taipei and Johor Bahru.
In Vietnam, the 5 destinations with the highest return rates are Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Hanoi and Phu Quoc respectively.
Expensive destination
One of the great advantages that helps Da Nang attract tourists back is the ability to combine many types of tourism in one journey. Tourists can relax by the sea, explore the city, enjoy cuisine, experience entertainment or learn about culture and heritage without spending too much time traveling.
From Da Nang, tourists can easily connect with Hoi An, My Son, Hue and many other tourist attractions in the Central region. Right in the city, there is also a diverse product system such as My Khe beach, Son Tra peninsula, Ngu Hanh Son and Sun World Ba Na Hills tourist area with the Golden Bridge symbol.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu - General Director of Vitamin Tour & Event, Da Nang's competitive advantage lies in the fact that the city converges many products in the same destination, from sea resorts, heritage tourism, entertainment, cuisine to golf and MICE. Products are connected in a short travel time, while the cost is considered reasonable compared to many destinations in the region.
With this structure, a first trip can hardly cover all the experiences that Da Nang and the surrounding area bring. Visitors can return to explore a different product, choose a different season, or combine Da Nang with a new journey.
Chairman of Da Nang Tourism Association Cao Tri Dung said that the city has advantages in location, infrastructure and regional connectivity. The international airport is located near the center, a multi-sector hotel and resort system, coastal roads, conference centers, restaurants and tourism services are developing synchronously, making the journey of international visitors more convenient.
This is also a factor suitable for the FIT customer trend, groups of tourists self-booking air tickets, hotels, restaurants and experiences. With the development of digital platforms, tourists are increasingly proactive in finding information, reading reviews, choosing services and designing their own journeys.
Constantly creating reasons to come back
The increasingly diverse event system also helps Da Nang create more motivation for the next trips. Da Nang International Fireworks Festival and cultural, artistic, sports, culinary and MICE activities create different times for tourists to choose from.
A sea destination can therefore maintain its appeal for many seasons instead of completely relying on resort products. Tourists who have been to Da Nang can return to attend an event, experience a new product or explore another corner of the city.

Besides landscape and services, the image of a clean, safe, and friendly city is also an important factor for international visitors.
According to Mr. Hieu, the attractiveness of a destination today is created from many factors, in which events, emotions, experiences and personal stories are important components. For Da Nang, flexibly exploiting available resources, while continuously innovating the way of experiencing, will help the city create more motivation for tourists to return.
Positive results in the number of returning customers also set higher requirements for service quality and long-term development orientation.
After familiar products, Da Nang needs to expand experiences associated with culture, cuisine, local life, night economy, wellness, golf, MICE and wedding tourism to extend stay time and increase the attractiveness of the destination," Mr. Hieu said.
Sustainable tourism development is also an issue that needs to be focused on. Maintaining the marine environment, limiting waste, improving the quality of public space and promoting green operating models will contribute to ensuring Da Nang's attractiveness in the long term, especially when environmental criteria are increasingly concerned by international tourists.
