The 5-day National Day holiday of September 2, 2026 is gradually closing. After this holiday, officials, civil servants, public employees, and laborers still have a Vietnam Culture Day holiday.
Article 2 of Resolution No. 28/2026/QH16 of the National Assembly on cultural development of Vietnam stipulates that November 24th every year is Vietnam Culture Day. On this day, employees are entitled to leave from work and receive full salary.
According to the above regulations, the number of official days off for employees during Vietnam Culture Day 2026 is 1 day, on Tuesday, November 24, 2026. This is the first year this holiday has been established, employees are entitled to full salary.
Previously, in a document sent to collect opinions from 13 relevant ministries and sectors on the holiday of Vietnam Culture Day, Lunar New Year 2027 and National Day September 2, 2027, the Ministry of Home Affairs proposed 2 options related to Vietnam Culture Day.
For civil servants and public employees, the Ministry of Home Affairs proposes 2 options:
Option 1: Vietnam Culture Day holiday on Tuesday, November 24, 2020.
Converting the working day of Monday, November 23, 26 to the weekly holiday of Saturday, November 28, 2016.
Thus, during the 2026 Vietnam Culture Day holiday, civil servants and public employees are entitled to 4 consecutive days off, from Saturday, November 21, 2026 to the end of Tuesday, November 24, 2026 and make up for work on Saturday, November 28, 2026.
Option 2: Vietnam Culture Day holiday on Tuesday, November 24, 26, without changing working days.
The Ministry of Home Affairs proposes to choose option 1. The Ministry explains that arranging 4-day consecutive holidays creates conditions for officials, civil servants, and public employees to participate in cultural activities, contributing to promoting the meaning of Vietnam Culture Day; and at the same time creates favorable conditions for organizing cultural, tourism, service activities and promoting consumer demand. The option only implements 1 working day of exchange and still ensures full working time according to regulations.
For employees, the Ministry proposes that employees be allowed to take leave from work and receive full salary on Tuesday, November 24, 26 according to regulations.
For Vietnam Culture Day, Resolution No. 28/2026/QH16 takes effect from July 1, 2026, so it is necessary to promptly develop a plan to organize the implementation of the first holiday on November 24, 2026. Because November 24, 26 falls on Tuesday, the Ministry of Home Affairs is developing the above 2 plans.
For 2027, November 24 falls on Wednesday, the Ministry of Home Affairs proposes to implement a holiday on the right day according to Resolution No. 28/2026/QH16, without implementing swaps.
