On the morning of December 27, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Thap province confirmed information that Sa Dec ornamental flower growing profession officially became a national intangible cultural heritage.
Accordingly, in Decision 4896/QD-BHVTTDL, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung decided to include in the National List of intangible cultural heritage: Folk knowledge, Traditional handicrafts for Sa Dec ornamental flower growing (Sa Dec ward, Dong Thap province).

This is a very important honor for the hundred-year-old flower and ornamental plant craft village of Dong Thap province and also the flower and ornamental plant capital of the Mekong Delta region. In particular, this is also the time when Dong Thap province is preparing to open the 2nd Sa Dec Flower and ornamental plant Festival in 2025.
With the theme "Color of flowers in the new day", the 2nd Sa Dec Ornamental Festival takes place from December 27, 2025 - January 4, 2026 in Sa Dec ward. In which Sa Dec Park is the focus of the event. This is a provincial-level event with more than 30 cultural, artistic, and tourism activities, highlighting such as displaying 1,000 flower and ornamental plant varieties; recreating the space of the old Sa Dec market and the old Sa Dec flower market.
The festival connects with Huynh Thuy Le Ancient House to create a highlight to attract tourists with the "Night Telling a Love Story - Huynh Thuy Le Ancient House" activity; exhibition and performance of the province's national intangible cultural heritage such as: Southern Don ca tai tu art; Ho Dong Thap.
Each space, each program of the festival carries the message: Tradition is the foundation - Creativity is the motivation - Linkage is the solution - Socio-economic efficiency is the ultimate goal," Ms. Nguyen Thi Uyen Trang - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Thap province shared.
