Huge economic benefits from BTS's concert bring to Busan

The reason BTS chose Busan city (Korea) as a stop to celebrate their 13th anniversary is of special significance, far exceeding the scale of a regular concert.

Although Seoul (Korea) has long been BTS's operating center, Busan holds an important position in the group's development history, bringing great spiritual value to both members and the fan community.

The 2-day music night series (June 12-13, 2026) marks BTS's reunion with Busan audiences since the historic concert "Yet To Come in Busan" held in 2022.

For fans, this return is symbolic of a complete circle," cultural critic Kim Heon-sik said in The Korea Herald.

According to Kim Heon-sik, if the 2022 concert was the closing of an old chapter, this year's anniversary concert is the new opening chapter - the time when all 7 members have completed their military service and officially reunited in group activities.

In the memory of the ARMY community (BTS's fandom), Busan is not only associated with the touching moments of 2022 but also the homeland of 2 members Jimin and Jungkook.

This place preserves the childhood of the 2 male idols before they became part of a global group.

The schools they used to attend, familiar eateries or landmarks that appeared in the growing journey of both have long become famous destinations attracting international fans.

Choi Ji-won, a long-time ARMY member of the group, shared: "Busan brings very special emotions because this is the intersection between BTS's past and future. Returning here on the anniversary of the group's debut is like an affirmation of BTS's 13-year journey of resilience".

This decision also reflects Busan's growing influence on the BTS brand ecosystem.

Not only stopping at a performance venue, this city has risen to become a cultural symbol associated with the most important milestones of the group.

Besides the spiritual value, the appearance of BTS is predicted to create a huge economic boost for the locality.

The attraction of the group is so great that economic experts have coined the term "BTSnomics" to describe the widespread impact of this wave on the tourism, service and retail industries.

Previously, in 2022, the Korea Institute of Culture and Tourism estimated that the music night "Yet To Come in Busan" had brought an economic spillover effect of about 1,000 billion won (equivalent to 660 million USD).

Expecting a similar tourism boom wave this week, a series of hotel, travel and retail businesses in Busan have simultaneously launched promotional and demand stimulus campaigns based on the BTS theme to maximize revenue from this billion-dollar commercial event.
