Promoting the advantage after the merger, An Giang reaches the finish line of tourism revenue early

In the first 8 months of 2025, An Giang is expected to welcome more than 18 million visitors, including more than 1.1 million international visitors, with tourism revenue estimated at more than VND 47,600 billion.

Mr. Bui Quoc Thai - Director of the Department of Tourism of An Giang province said that after merging Kien Giang and An Giang into An Giang province, it will become a locality with many potentials and advantages for tourism development, including sea and island tourism, ecology, and spirituality.

In August 2025, An Giang is expected to welcome more than 1.9 million visitors for sightseeing and tourism (an increase of 28.8% over the same period); total revenue is estimated at more than VND 5,000 billion. In the first 8 months of 2025, An Giang is expected to welcome more than 18.2 million visitors (an increase of 17.4% over the same period, reaching 86.8% of the annual plan).

Of which, international visitors are estimated to welcome more than 1.1 million (up 64.2% over the same period, reaching 91.5% of the annual plan), total revenue is estimated at more than VND 47,600 billion (up 76% over the same period, exceeding the annual plan by 21.3%).

In particular, Phu Quoc Special Zone accumulated over the past 8 months of 2025, estimated to welcome more than 6 million visitors (up 32.8% over the same period, reaching 82.8% of the yearly plan), international visitors are estimated to welcome more than 1 million visitors (up 66.5% over the same period, reaching 92.5% of the yearly plan), total revenue is estimated at more than VND 28,200 billion (up 90.2% over the same period, exceeding the yearly plan by 20.3%.

Meanwhile, the plan for tourism activities in the province after the merger is estimated to welcome more than 21 million visitors; of which, international visitors are estimated to welcome more than 1.2 million visitors; total revenue is estimated at more than 39,000 billion VND.

The whole province currently has 135 licensed travel service businesses (62 international travel businesses, 50 domestic travel businesses and 23 Branches, Representative Offices, Travel Agents). There are 1,091 tourist accommodation establishments with 38,024 rooms.

The Department of Tourism said that it has organized an appraisal of another tourism service business establishment serving tourists in the Phu Quoc special zone. Declare prices of accommodation and sightseeing services at tourist areas and destinations according to the provisions of the law on prices.

Implement the content related to the merger and renaming of the organization and activities of the Association. Direct tourism businesses to ensure the safety of tourists affected by Storm No. 3 and prepare the best conditions to serve tourists on the occasion of National Day on September 2.

Coordinate to survey the current situation and tourism orientation for the period 2025 - 2030 in Tien Hai and Vinh Dieu communes. Synthesize the list, review and count tourist areas, destinations/tourist attractions in An Giang province.

Organize field surveys of natural resources, tourist areas and spots and invest in infrastructure connecting tourist areas and spots of the province in the wards/communes: Oc Eo, Tri Ton, Vinh Te, Khanh Binh, Cu Lao Gieng, My Hoa Hung...

The survey aims to review and evaluate the implementation of local tourism planning combined with socio-economic development associated with national defense and security, while exploiting and using tourism resources reasonably and effectively and preserving historical - cultural relics and natural heritages towards the goal of sustainable tourism development.

The Director of the provincial Department of Tourism also said that in the coming time, the local tourism industry will continue to improve the quality of tourism products and services, designing diverse and unique tour programs to serve domestic and foreign tourists.

The Department will also revise and supplement the draft Project and advise the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the Prime Minister for approval the Project "Building Phu Quoc into a center for high-quality ecotourism, marine and island tourism of national and international scale".

Coordinate to advise on hiring a consulting unit to develop the Project "Developing tourism in An Giang province in the period of 2025 - 2030 and orientation to 2035". Research, survey, and select locations with potential for developing agricultural tourism, eco-tourism, and community tourism.

Deploying the organization of tourism events in the province: Tourism and culinary festival combined with Fair, trade promotion, Ocop - Rach Gia products, the 2nd An Giang Southern Traditional cake Festival in 2025...
