The 2025 Van Don Hot air balloon festival is one of the activities to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of Van Don (December 26, 1945 - December 26, 2025).
The festival is also expected to create a unique highlight, contributing to promoting the image of the dynamic Van Don Special Zone, rich in cultural identity and tourism development potential, contributing to stimulating local tourism.

Van Don also hopes that the Hot air balloon Festival will be held annually, gradually expanding its scale towards international stature, with the participation of countries around the world.
Previously, a business proposed to research, build and develop a number of new tourism products in the Van Don Special Zone.
In particular, this enterprise presented the idea of building and developing an air-based experiential tourism model to admire the natural landscape of Bai Tu Long Bay through hot air balloon activities in Van Don Special Zone.
This will be a unique tourism product, exploiting the strengths of Van Don's natural landscape, unique terrain and marine culture space, aiming to attract a large number of domestic and foreign tourists, especially domestic and international tourists who love to travel to explore and experience in the air.
At the meeting, listening to the business present its ideas, Mr. Cao Tuong Huy - Member of the Standing Committee of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Van Don Special Zone Party Committee - acknowledged and highly appreciated the creative ideas, proactive investment and research spirit of the business.
Diversifying tourism products and types is an urgent requirement to improve competitiveness, attract tourists and affirm Van Don's position as a high-quality island tourism center of Quang Ninh province, especially currently, Van Don is receiving attention from the Central and the province to build a new-generation special zone model.
Mr. Huy suggested that the company continue to study and complete specific plans on the content, location, scale and roadmap for organizing hot air balloon activities.
At the same time, closely coordinate with competent authorities to develop plans to ensure feasibility, safety and compliance with local tourism and service development planning.
