Cat Lam promotes its strengths in winter
Cat Lam City (China) attracted attention when organizing a program introducing winter cultural tourism products in Hanoi. Cat Lam City is known as the second largest city in Cat Lam Province, famous for the cultural depth and majestic nature of Northeast China.
The titles of "Ice and Snow Capital" and "Sties Paradise" have been associated with this place as Cat Lam possesses rare climate and landscape conditions. The city was also awarded the title of "China's Outstanding Tourism City" and "10 Leading ice and snow tourism cities in China".
At this event, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Radio - Television and Tourism of Cat Lam City - Truong Vy introduced 5 winter tourism products designed specifically for the Vietnamese market, from powder skiing experience to ice and snow watching tours that evoke the feeling of getting lost in fairy tales.
He explained that the attraction of Cat Lam originates from the phenomenon of "Song Hoa butterfly", classified as the " Four Great Meteorological Wonders of China" with the sea of clouds of Hoang Son, the dawn of Thai Son and the Zhaoyang tide. On cold days below minus 20 degrees Celsius, the water vents from the Song Hoa River do not freeze, and when encountering cold winds, the layer of ice covers the leaves and flowers.
Mr. Truong Vy mentioned Cat Lam snowmen island, the top of Bac Dai Ho mountain, the scenic strip of Ngan Son Bac in Phong Man area and Van Khoa Song Hoa Ho figure skating area as places where Vietnamese visitors can enjoy many different levels of experience.
Cultural space is also a big attraction with the heritages of the Phu Du, Bot Hai, Lieu Kim, Nguyen, Minh, Thanh dynasties; Thien Thach Cat Lam No. one; Van Mieu Cat Lam; Bac Son ancient temple complex; Kinh Son park; Cat Hai railway relic park or the vibrant annual festival of the city of the North River.
Mr. Truong Vy also emphasized: TP. Cat Lam is beautiful all year round, with unique and rich cultural and tourism resources. We use ice and snow as a means of transportation, use snow as a bridge and sincerely invite Vietnamese tourists to feel the attraction of the Northeast mountains.
Opportunities for Vietnam - Cat Lam tourism linkage
Speaking at the program, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism - Ha Van Sieu highly appreciated the efforts of Cat Lam in choosing Hanoi as a promotional destination in the context of the two countries towards the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the Humanitarian Exchange Year 2025. He acknowledged that cultural exchange and tourism cooperation between Vietnam and China are built on a foundation of long-term stability and towards the future.
According to Mr. Ha Van Sieu, the Chinese market is recovering strongly. In the first 10 months of 2025, Vietnam welcomed more than 4.3 million Chinese visitors, an increase of 43.7% over the same period in 2024, returning China to the largest market sending visitors.
Mr. Ha Van Sieu affirmed that this creates a favorable basis to promote seasonal visitor exchanges, when the blue sea of Vietnam attracts Chinese tourists in the cold season and Cat Lam brings an ice and snow experience to Vietnamese tourists.
The Deputy Director also proposed that the two sides continue to increase exchanges and promotion activities in the context that cultural and tourism agencies of the two countries have signed many cooperation agreements.
He encouraged airlines to study opening direct flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Cat Lam, especially subscriber flights to serve the ice and snow tourism season. He also emphasized that organizing survey teams for travel businesses and newspapers is an important condition for forming high-quality products.
Mr. Ha Van Sieu noted that the two sides need to coordinate communication strongly on digital platforms and actively participate in international tourism fairs such as ITE Ho Chi Minh City, VITM Hanoi or CITM China.
In addition, it is possible to study the long-term cooperation framework between the National Administration of Tourism of Vietnam and Cat Lam City to develop sustainable products, train human resources and promote common communication.

At the event, representatives of the Cat Lam Tourism Association introduced more product lines and cooperation orientations with the Vietnamese market. Highlighting the program, Mr. Vuong Ve Dong - Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, General Director of Cat Lam Radio and Television Station presented the certificate of appointment of Mr. Truong Quoc Hung - Chairman of the UNESCO Hanoi Travel Club as Ambassador to promote culture and tourism in Cat Lam city.
Speaking at the program, Mr. Truong Quoc Hung acknowledged Cat Lam's methodical approach in tourism promotion and said that the direct meetings between businesses of the two countries will create momentum to form products that are more suitable for Vietnamese customers.
He appreciated the great potential of Cat Lam, especially in ski infrastructure, accommodation systems and unique experiential tourism models.
From a market perspective, Mr. Truong Quoc Hung emphasized: Vietnamese businesses expect strong support mechanisms from your side to reduce costs of accessing destinations, especially aviation connections and preferential policies for groups of tourists.
Un UNESCO Hanoi Travel Club is committed to playing a bridging role, promoting cooperation between businesses of the two countries and promoting communication strengths to contribute to enhancing people-to-people exchanges.
