According to the latest storm news from the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JWTC), Typhoon Hayley formed in the Indian Ocean is going against the direction of Typhoon Grant. It is expected that on December 30, the storm will enter the mainland of Kimberley, western Australia.
Currently, Typhoon Hayley's wind speed is about 85 km/h and is likely to strengthen in the coming days.
On December 30, the storm reached 140 km/h, walking along the northern coast of Broome. Typhoon Hayley is small but the sea surface temperature above 30°C will add wind to the storm.
In the next 6-12 hours, Typhoon Hayley is likely to reach level 2. If it goes south, Typhoon Hayley may even suddenly rise to level 3, at which point small whirlwinds will strengthen rapidly and have unpredictable developments.
However, Hayley will only strengthen for a short time and will weaken before entering the mainland. But as Hurricane Hayley weakens, heavy rainfall will occur in the Kimberley area.
In some locations, rainfall can reach 200-300mm/h, increasing the risk of flash floods, affecting important traffic routes.
Visitors need to follow storm forecasts and weather warnings from the Bureau of Meteorology of Australia and local official media channels to update the location, direction of movement, and level of danger of the storm.
Update information from hotels, tour guides, or local authorities to know the nearest safe shelter, travel routes, or evacuation requests if needed.
Unlike Typhoon Hayley, Super Typhoon Grant is moving in a West-Northwest direction at a speed of 11 km/h, the strongest wind in the area near the storm center is about 220 km/h.
Initially, meteorologists predicted Typhoon Grant would pass through the Cocos Islands (Keeling) in Australia, but now it has moved west-southwest, no longer causing much impact on this archipelago.
Super typhoon Grant is likely to strengthen, the structure is maintained stable. But when dry air pours down in the early morning of December 30, super typhoon Grant will pause and begin to weaken in the following days.
