Murder from passionate love stabs

Lê Thanh Phong |

Many murders occur due to jealousy, and when the perpetrator drops the knife and wakes up and regrets it, it is too late.

Please take a look at a few headlines on Lao Dong newspaper: "Hai Phong Police informs about murder due to love jealousy" (July 25, 2026), "From the 3 murders in Dong Nai: Identifying dating violence and the boundary to protect children of parents" (September 5, 2026), "Murder of lover due to jealousy in Dong Nai" (December 29, 2025)...

What's scary is that such tragedies often start from something very beautiful: love.

But loving does not mean possessing, breaking up is not an insult.

A person has the right to choose to love and also has the right to choose to stop.

If one side does not accept the breakup, follows, threatens, seeks revenge, assaults or wants "not to be loved, then not to live", that is no longer love.

It is morbid possession, violent behavior and a danger to the pursued person, their loved ones, and even the community.

Jealousy can appear in a relationship, but no one is allowed to take jealousy as a license to insult, threaten or take the lives of others.

The law also does not consider violence in relationships as a private matter of each family, but the law can only handle it when the act has occurred.

More importantly, society must identify dangerous signs before a fit of jealousy turns into a stab wound.

Threatening revenge, clinging to ex-lovers, refusing to break up, going to houses to cause trouble, beating... are not emotionally mature. That is not love but hatred, violence and loss of control.

Studies on violence against women in Vietnam show that violence in marital and partner relationships is still a serious problem and many victims do not seek support from official agencies and services.

Therefore, young people need to be taught how to accept failure in love, how to resolve conflicts, how to control anger, how to respect the boundaries of others and most importantly, understand that human life is inviolable.

People with education not only know how to love but also know how to break up without hurting each other.

Because, loving someone is really hoping that person will be safe.

My lover gets married, although in pain, she is still worried "where do you go on happy days, where do you go to the blue sky, where do you go" (Like a bayonet flying - Trinh Cong Son).
