According to SCMP, the man, nicknamed Xiaojun, whose real age was not disclosed, is from Jilin province (China), comes from a poor family and dropped out of high school.
Xiaojun's mother works at a public bathhouse and his father works part-time at a construction site. However, he portrays himself as the son of a tycoon whose parents are successful businessmen.
Xiaojun often bought fake branded goods as gifts for his girlfriend Xiaojia. Soon after she became pregnant, they registered their marriage.
Knowing that her husband was not as rich as he appeared, Xiaojia still did not divorce him. However, she decided to raise the child herself and eventually kicked Xiaojun out of the house.
Just a week after moving away, Xiaojun met another woman named Xiaohong through an online game. He quickly used the same deceptive methods to gain her trust and affection.
Under the pretext of renovating his future home, he convinced Xiaohong to lend him 140,000 yuan (nearly 500 million VND). Xiaojun used this money to maintain his wealthy image.
He even rented an apartment in the same building as his wife's house to live with Xiaohong when she was pregnant.
Xiaojun then continued to do the same thing to three other women in the same residential area, including two university students and a nurse. Xiaojun swindled them out of a total of 33,000 yuan (about 120 million VND).
Last April, Xiaojun’s mistress needed money for her tuition and asked him to return 10,000 yuan (about 35 million VND). Xiaojun rented a luxury car to meet her, handed her a black plastic bag and said that inside was 100,000 yuan (about 350 million VND).
He asked her not to open the bag because the money was only for important work. A month later, feeling that Xiaojun no longer cared about her, she decided to open the bag and was shocked to find that inside were only counterfeit bills used for bank employees to practice counting.
