Movies with Hoai Linh double the revenue of movies with Quyen Linh
According to statistics from Box office Vietnam, the movie starring Hoai Linh - Getting Rich with Ghosts - has topped the Vietnamese box office in the last 4 holidays (from August 31 to September 3).
Currently, the film has earned 48 billion VND (as of the morning of September 3) and is the most popular Vietnamese film released to audiences on the occasion of the September 2 holiday.
Meanwhile, the film starring Quyen Linh - Hai Muoi also has quite good revenue but is far behind the film starring Hoai Linh. Currently, Hai Muoi has a revenue of 25 billion VND (shown from August 30). Thus, on average, the film earns about 5 billion VND per day - a fairly stable number compared to the general level of Vietnamese films shown in the second half of 2024.
However, compared to Hoai Linh's film, Quyen Linh's Hai Muoi only achieved about half the revenue.
Typically, on September 2, the movie "Getting Rich with Ghosts" had a peak revenue of about 12-15 billion VND. Meanwhile, the movie Hai Muoi had a revenue of 5-7 billion VND.
Currently, with current revenue, many experts predict that Hoai Linh's film can reach 100 billion VND, leaving theaters with about 120-130 billion VND.
Meanwhile, Quyen Linh's film could reach 70 billion VND in revenue if it maintains stable ticket sales.
Why are movies starring Quyen Linh at a disadvantage?
Objectively speaking, both Quyen Linh and Hoai Linh's films have their own pros and cons.
However, according to many audiences and filmmakers, "Getting Rich with Ghosts" attracts more audiences to the theater because it has good humor, outstanding acting by the cast, and content suitable for young people...
Meanwhile, in "Hai Muoi", the film was criticized for having a simple script, following the familiar motif of the family drama genre. The film was weak at the end when the story was forced and felt like a stage play.
Many film experts believe that the film has not had a breakthrough in revenue compared to Hoai Linh's film because it lacks the element of surprise. The story of a girl from the countryside going to the city and then falling into a frivolous place has been exploited too much by previous Vietnamese films, not attractive enough to attract a large audience to the theater.
However, it is undeniable that Quyen Linh and the veteran stars such as Hong Van and Cong Ninh in the film are good actors. In addition, the message about father-son love is also a plus point of this Hai Muoi project.
