The Korean drama Head Over Heels (Vietnamese title: Nguu Lang Chuc Nu) had an impressive start when it aired earlier this week.
According to Nielsen Korea, episodes 1 and 2 of the drama achieved average nationwide ratings of 4.3% and 4.4%, respectively. This is a positive opening rating at a time when tvN had consecutive failed works before.
The film also achieved good results in tvN's main demographic group from 20-49 years old, recording the highest nationwide rate of 2%, ranking Top 1 on all channels, including the ground network, within the same broadcast time frame.
With this achievement, Head Over Heels has achieved the highest debut rating among tvNs 2nd and 3rd dramas in 2025 to date.
Based on a famous webtoon, Head Over Heels is a fantasy romance drama, telling the story of a young man haunted by bad luck, destined to die Bae Gyeon Woo (Choo Young Woo), and young magician Park Seong Ah ( cho Yi Hyun) trying to save him from his fate.
Their fateful meeting and the mysterious events surrounding them intertwined with the emotional theme of "first love", received a positive reaction as soon as the film aired.
The chemistry and acting of the main actors were praised by the audience.
At the press conference to launch the film, actress Cho Yi Hyun shared that she had put a lot of effort into this role and hoped that this would be a character that would help her break through: I have always been interested in magic, I am even a person who believes in fate. In the meantime, I received this script, so I thought this was fate.
This character lives a double life (day by day as a student, night as a magician) which makes me very excited. I think, if I do well in this film, this will be an opportunity for me to develop further. So I decided to participate in the work.
Cho Yi Hyun revealed that she had practiced for many months to be able to play the role of a magician in the most realistic way.
"There was a scene in the film where I had to perform a ceremony. To practice that scene, I learned the order of movements and practiced the voice from a real-life magician advisor for about 3 months, the actress shared.
Cho Yi Hyun added, I went through difficulties and anxiety playing the role of a student and a magician. But director Kim Yong Wan encouraged me a lot and gave me more faith in the role.

As for actor Choo Young Woo, he described the character Bae Gyeon Woo as "a person who accepts death as his fate", but behind that indifference and coldness is a warm, gentle heart.
"Although he pushes people away, he still nurtures a gentle heart within. As his emotions get deeper over time, he becomes a character worth showing, the actor shared.
After the first two episodes aired, positive comments about the drama and the actors flooded social media.
" Their chemistry is crazy! , "Choo Young Woo scored his 4th consecutive hit with a magical romance story", "The film surpassed the release ratings of "My Dearest Nemesis", "The divorce Insurance", "Second Shot at Love"...
