According to Herald Corp, the main actors of the Disney+ produced drama Tempest are Jun Ji Hyun and Kang Dong Won, who are paid around 300 - 400 million won per episode.
The film has a total of 9 episodes, equivalent to the total remuneration for appearing of the two stars in the range of 2.7 billion won to 3.6 billion won per person.
If according to this information, Kang Dong Won and Jun Ji Hyun are among the top Korean drama actors with the highest salaries today.
The huge salary of the main cast is predictable, as The Storm is the largest Korean film project invested by Disney+ in history, with an estimated production budget of 50 billion won.
Some other sources even said that the film's investment is up to 70 billion won, surpassing the 2023 Korean action blockbuster "Moving" (about 50 billion won).
Disney+ has high expectations for The Storm. This hugely funded project is seen as an effort to turn things around, as Disney+ is facing a crisis in the Korean market due to recent consecutive failures.
The "proctor" follows Seo Moon Ju (Jun Ji Hyun), a former UN ambassador running for president, after her husband, presidential candidate Jun Ik (Park Hae Joon), was suddenly assassinated.
Moon Ju hired Baek San Ho (Kang Dong Won) as a bodyguard. He is a hired soldier with a mysterious background, but appears at the scene where her husband is shot.

The Gion is reaping impressive achievements, becoming the most watched film of Disney+ globally in 2025 (according to the number of views in the first 5 days).
According to FlixPatrol, The Giong has maintained its No. 1 position in the most watched Disney+ TV show category in Korea for 7 consecutive days, as of September 18.
To attract viewers and revive the platform, Disney+ has also reduced the monthly account registration fee from 9,900 won to 4,950 won.
However, Disney+ is also facing difficulties as the film Giong to is being leaked on illegal streaming websites right after its release.
For the platform's original films, illegal leaks have significantly affected the film's performance.
Although South Korea has taken measures to suppress websites that broadcast "illegal" content, it is still not enough. These websites often change their domain addresses to avoid traceability.
According to industry sources, leakage of Korean content through illegal distribution websites has caused an estimated copyright damage of about 5,000 billion won.
