In recent days, the online community has shared a series of photos of the Miss and Mister Majestic Cambodia 2025 contest.
After the photos of her physical condition and street fashion were published, many audiences debated the quality of the contestants. In which, Lai Thai is the guy that attracted the most attention and comments from the audience.
Receiving much attention and support from Vietnamese audiences, Lai Thai shared a photo on his personal page with the message: "The audience in Vietnam is really lovely".
Sharing with Lao Dong reporter, Lai Thai said he was grateful for being encouraged and cheered by the Vietnamese audience.
Lai Thai is 27 years old, 1.8m tall. He was born into a poor family and has to walk 5km a day to get to school. Due to difficult circumstances, he had to drop out of school in grade 10, following his relatives abroad to work for a living.
"I used to work as a boat driver, a worker in factories and sell many things while abroad. At the end of 2019, I returned to Cambodia due to the COVID-19 epidemic. I once competed in a music competition, but was rejected because of my un typical appearance.
I have been depressed because I was bullied, exploited because of my appearance since I was little. I have been taking medication for a long time. Thanks to my family, I overcame that time. Therefore, I want to motivate those who are also struggling with this disease," Lai Thai said.
When participating in Miss and Mister Majestic Cambodia 2025, Lai Thai hesitated because he felt that he did not have a beautiful appearance. When receiving mixed opinions about his appearance, the 27-year-old contestant said he was disappointed and sad. However, he tried his best to show himself in the competition with the desire to convey positive messages.
Before, I always wanted to show my ability but I didnt dare because I thought the contests often chose outstanding girls and boys. But now, I want to say on behalf of everyone that no matter how circumstances and appearance are born, it is not as important as loving what we have.
Let's dare to express what we want to express. The result is not important, as long as we have done it. I hope everyone can learn to love themselves and be stronger," Lai Thai shared about the inspiring message he brought to the contest.
Previously, the organizing committee of the Miss & Mister Majestic Cambodia 2025 contest announced 36 contestants competing, including 15 male contestants.
This is a contest that combines 3 categories of Miss, King, Miss Transgender, with the goal of aiming at humane social messages, respecting diversity.
Mr. Eric V.Yon - President of Miss & Mister Majestic Cambodia 2025 - said that the organizing committee received many negative responses about the quality of the contestants, but he said that the reason was that the audience did not fully understand the purpose and content of the contest.
