Before the Academy Awards ceremony took place on March 15 (US time), actress Viola Davis publicly expressed her support for the crew of the movie Sinners.

In a conversation on SiriusXM's Andy Cohen Live program, Davis said she especially cheered for director and screenwriter Ryan Coogler and lead star Michael B. Jordan.
“I am one of those who don't really like award ceremonies,” Davis frankly shared. However, she also admitted that if victory came to her, she would still happily accept it.
The actress added: "There are many great performances this year. But I would be very happy if Sinners won all the awards.
Sinners is the focus of this year's awards season when it set a record with 16 Oscar nominations, becoming the film with the most nominations in the history of this prestigious film award.
In the film, Michael B. Jordan plays the double role of twin brothers Smoke and Stack in a horror-esque vampire story. This role helped the actor win the Best Actor award at the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG Awards) on March 1.

Jordan's victory is considered a big surprise of this year's awards season.
At the SAG awards ceremony, Viola Davis herself announced the award for Michael B. Jordan. Her excited reaction when Jordan was named quickly spread on social networks.
In the widely shared video, Davis' cheers of congratulation still echoed through the microphone on stage for a few seconds after the results were announced.
The video recording the moment Jordan received the award posted by Netflix on YouTube attracted more than 1.3 million views in just a few days.
In an interview with Variety, Davis continued to praise Jordan.
“Michael B. Jordan is a great person. It's interesting to see what he's going to achieve,” she said.
According to Davis, Jordan's expansion into the role of director may help African-American cinema achieve more new imprints in the future.
