On March 13, representatives of Highway Traffic Patrol and Control Team No. 6 (Team 6), Room 6, Traffic Police Department said that the unit had just made a record of handling a case of stopping a vehicle on the expressway emergency stopping strip in violation of regulations.
While patrolling and controlling on the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway, passing through Lam Dong province, the task force discovered a car with license plate 85A-050. xx parked on the emergency stop strip but did not turn on the danger warning lights.

Through inspection, the driver presented papers in the name of P.N. T (born 1997, residing in Khanh Hoa province). Working with functional forces, driver T stated that due to drowsiness, he stopped the car at the emergency stop zone to sleep.
The task force explained to the driver that emergency stops on the highway are only used in truly force majeure cases.

In a drowsy situation, drivers can stop at a stop or turn to branch roads to rest. Meanwhile, the location where the car stops is only about 2km from the stop.
According to a representative of Team 6, on the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway, the situation of drivers arbitrarily stopping and parking on emergency stops still occurs.
This is an act that potentially poses a risk of traffic unsafety, especially at night when visibility is limited, while the traffic speed on this expressway is up to 90km/h.

In fact, since the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway was put into operation in May 2023, many traffic accidents have occurred related to trucks and passenger cars stopping on the expressway at night.
Among them, there was a case where the car had an accident, stopped and had a flat tire, and before having time to set up a warning, it was also hit by a car in the same direction from behind.
Highway traffic patrol and control team No. 6 recommends that car drivers absolutely do not stop or park vehicles illegally on the expressway.
Emergency stopping strips are only used in force majeure cases: Vehicles encountering technical problems and unable to continue moving; traffic accidents or other emergency situations requiring vehicle stopping.
When forced to stop on the highway, drivers need to immediately turn on the danger warning light, place warning signs or warning objects behind the vehicle with a minimum safe distance of 150m, and quickly move people out of the running lane and stand in a safe position outside the guardrail.
