Ministry of Education and Training issues new regulations on working regimes for teachers
The Ministry of Education and Training issued Circular 04/2026/TT-BGDDT stipulating the working regime for teachers at continuing education institutions, in which the average teaching period is determined to be 17 periods/week. The Circular does not limit teachers to only concurrently perform a maximum of 2 tasks like general education teachers, but the total number of periods reduced and converted in the year does not exceed 50% of the quota to ensure teaching quality.

The Circular grants greater autonomy to the heads of continuing education institutions in assigning, converting tasks and arranging working hours. Teachers' summer vacations are arranged flexibly from 4-8 weeks depending on the conditions of each unit and can still participate in professional tasks and enrollment according to the plan.
In addition, the new regulation clarifies the reduction of norms and conversion of professional activities: homeroom teachers of continuing education classes are reduced by 4 periods/week; other cases are reduced from 1-4 periods/week. The specific regulation aims to increase transparency, create a basis for supervision and ensure the rights of teachers. See more...
Summer vacation is arranged flexibly with continuing education institutions
The Ministry of Education and Training issued Circular 04/2026/TT-BGDĐT regulating the working regime for teachers of continuing education institutions, which clarifies the annual leave time. According to new regulations, teachers are entitled to summer vacations of 4-8 weeks depending on the conditions of each unit, and must still ensure the continuous operation requirements of the institution.
In addition to summer vacation, teachers are entitled to holidays, Tet and other days off according to the provisions of the Labor Code and the Law on Social Insurance. During the summer vacation, teachers may be assigned to participate in professional development, exam work, enrollment or teaching according to the plan. The arrangement of specific holiday schedules is decided by the director but must be consistent with the school year time frame.
The Circular also clearly stipulates specific cases such as maternity leave coinciding with summer leave, ensuring the rights of female and male teachers according to the law; and clearly states the leave regime for management officials. The new regulations aim to increase flexibility, transparency and ensure the rights and responsibilities of continuing education teachers. See more...
Focusing on the important exam, final year students devote themselves to studying for the Tet holiday.
Many final year students take advantage of the Tet holiday to speed up exam preparation, build specific study plans but still spend time reuniting with their families. 12th and 9th grade students proactively complete homework before Tet, in the following days focus on practicing questions, systematicizing core knowledge and overcoming shortcomings, considering this an important stage before major exams.
Students choose to balance between studying and resting: during the day helping their families, participating in Tet activities; in the afternoon and evening focusing on studying. Maintaining a regular study rhythm during the holidays helps maintain form, avoid being "stuck" after Tet and create a mentality ready for the final sprint.
Teachers recommend that students review scientifically, not study in a rush causing overload. Each day, they should only spend 2-3 hours on core knowledge systems, practice moderately, and at the same time ensure enough sleep, eat regularly, and exercise lightly to maintain health and positive spirit before the exam.
